The Story Behind the Potli 

The potli bag has been worn in India for centuries and is traditionally carried during weddings, festivals and celebrations. Made by artisan partners in India.

Many potli bags feature mirror work embroidery, also known as shisha, a decorative technique originating from regions such as Gujarat and Rajasthan.

Due to the handmade nature of these pieces, you may notice small variations in the embroidery, mirror placement or stitching. These are not flaws but a reflection of the human hands that created them.

Today these techniques continue to be kept alive by artisan families across India, and we are proud to support and share their work through Secret Garden.
